Become a Parent Governor

The Governing Body at Woodfield Primary School has two vacancies for Parent Governors. We are looking for Parents who would be interested in joining the Governing Body.

Joining the Governing Body as a Parent Governor offers you the opportunity to make a real contribution to the life and work of your child’s school. The role of the Parent Governor is to provide a parent perspective to the Governing Body, acting together in the best interests of the school as a whole.

Governors play a key role in the leadership of the school and raising of standards including the appointment of key staff, overseeing the budget and monitoring progress in the curriculum.  Being a governor can be very rewarding and will provide you with the opportunity to work as part of a team and gain new skills. Don’t worry if you have no experience as full training and support is available from the school, the Local Authority and your colleagues on the Governing Body.

Please note that the most important duty of any governor is to attend meetings of the Governing Body and you should be sure that you are committed and available to do this before applying. At Woodfield Primary School the Governing Body meets monthly and the meetings commence at 6pm and finish at 8pm approximately. There are Governor visits arranged during school hours.

If you have further queries or would like more information about becoming a parent governor please do not hesitate to contact myself via the school office.

If you wish to nominate yourself as a parent governor then please complete the form on Weduc or on the attached letter and return it to school no later than Friday 12th February. If necessary, an election will be held and further details will be sent following this date.
